Fremont Hospital Appoints New CEO

FREMONT, Calif.—(Nov. 16, 2009)—Fremont Hospital, a 96-bed behavioral health facility serving adolescents and adults, has announced the appointment of Sidney Ono as Chief Executive Officer, effective Nov. 16.  Ono has more than 20 years of hospital executive and operations experience at California hospitals, including experience at both private and public facilities.  He holds a master’s in public administration from the University of Southern California and a master’s in business administration from Pepperdine University.

With a proven track record of healthcare administration, Ono is prepared to demonstrate his proficiency at Fremont.  “I am honored to become a member of Fremont Hospital.  From the doctors and staff members that I have met already, I can tell we all share the same passion for quality patient care, dynamic staff relations and an overarching results-oriented mentality,” he explained.  “I am extremely lucky to be joining an organization with such a solid base already in place.”

Ono replaces Jay Kellison, who has been CEO at Fremont Hospital, a Psychiatric Solutions, Inc. (PSI) facility, for the past four years.  Kellison has been promoted to Division President for PSI and will be responsible for 11 facilities in California, Nevada and Washington.

“I can’t think of anyone better than Sidney to fill my shoes at Fremont.  I admire the work he has done in the past at other hospitals, and I am fully confident in his ability to lead Fremont,” said Kellison.  “Knowing that Sidney has experience on the corporate healthcare level as well as the local facility level, I trust him to be both a competent leader for the staff at Fremont and a trusted liaison between the facility and the rest of the PSI family.”
